M.S.I. is prepared to assist and address the ongoing problems involving the Chicago Public School . M.S.I. will provide services for schools whose overall attendance rate is below 95%; our agency has developed an “Attendance Improvement Plan” which will be implemented during the school year.

M.S.I. is a provider of services for C.P.S. and other agencies that work with Chicago’s student population. For your information, C.P.S. is the third largest school district in the nation with nearly 434,000 students in more than 600 schools.

 

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parents and schools should establish a positive relationship with shared goals and a common understanding of the child's needs at home, school and in the community. It is essential that the parent, the school and M.S.I. work cooperatively together.
 
 

M.S.I. COLLABORATION

To assist efforts of C.P.S. to improve attendance rates and reduce truancy and chronic truancy rates, M.S.I. as appropriate, request the assistance and cooperation of other governmental agencies including; The Chicago Housing Authority (by including provisions in its leases requiring regular school attendance by school-age students); The Illinois Department of Public Aid (by redirecting to social agencies, or withholding a portion of the assistance it provides parents of truant students as allowed by statute. The office of the States Attorney of Cook County and the Circuit Court of Cook County Juvenile Division (by requesting the expedited processing of truants on probation and the prosecution of  chronic truants and their parents or legal guardians, as appropriate.
